Warm winter days and hoar frost photos

The first photos here were taken when it was relatively warm, before Christmas.

Christmas saw average highs of -20 Celsius and lows in the negative 20's with windchill bringing it as cold as -39 C.

Hoar frost is so beautiful!  These trees were lightly touched by the frost, but the last three photos were taken by my husband in the Bonnyville/Cold Lake area where the hoar frost was thick and beautiful.

How's your weather?  Today we expect highs around -4 which is downright balmy!!  Where's the sunscreen?

Wonderful photos, especially the ones of the Hoar Frost. It makes me cold just looking at them.
We had some snow here in southern Ontario last week ... first lot was about 30 cm and yesterdays was just over 5 cm. The temperatures are to reach a high of -9 Celsius today, with lovely sunny, clear skies. Windchill on top of that is taking it down to about -15 Celsius.

Hello Crafty Gardener! I'd heard on the news about the storm that hit Ontario and the maritimes last week. I'm glad to know it wasn't worse. -15 with the windchill is still not bad for this time of year. Happy New Year!

Hi Shirley! Your winter looks like REAL winter (no snow in our area!)
The trees in the last pictures are absolutely beautiful! Thank you!

Hoar frost is gorgeous, I remember it as a kid living in Alberta. We seldom get it here, however we are in the snow right now. Pleople who have never seen it don't quite get what you mean by sparkling diamonds everywhere.
