Normally by mid October our paddocks are well and truly drying off, Around Christmas/New Year we can get weather that comes cross-continent with a good thunderstorm or two and dry again till the end of Feb. The last eight years the dry extended sometimes to the end of May followed by hardly any winter rains until two years ago all our dams went dry and most of the springs and bores as well. Pretty belt tightening times when you are totally reliant on water from heaven for stock as well as households,
