Thank you for sharing this with me. I had the privilege of see Rita perform in the mid 80's at a little tavern in Halifax. She wasn't famous yet, but her voice was so beautiful. Still even more beautiful was her spirit and her disposition.
I always believed that she sang Working Man for my father - a Cape Breton coal miner who climbed out of the pits and embarked on a career that took him around the world. He never lost the integrity, loyalty and work ethic of the miner and hearing Rita song that song always made me tear up. I'm in your city this week - feeling a little chilly, but loving it!

Indeed, we've lost a great talent. Working Man always brought tears to my eyes as she sang that song from deep within her soul.
