In the background the plant with the black serrated leaves is Black Lace Elder. It grows rapidly but has not yet flowered in my garden though we've had it for about four years. It dies back to the ground each winter but reaches a height of over six feet annually. It is a great backdrop for peonies or a great focal plant in front of evergreens.
